The Perfect Steak

Steak is a classic main course you see on restaurant menus and at dinner parties. But with a few simple tips and techniques, I'll show you how to make the perfect juicy, tender steak at home.

Ingredients:
1 (6oz) ribeye steak, 1 in. thick
1 tsp. kosher salt, plus more for sprinkling
freshly cracked black pepper
2 tbsp. olive oil

Place the ribeye on a plate and sprinkle the steak with 1/2 tsp. salt on each side

Cover the steak with plastic wrap and allow it to sit for 1 hour at room temperature then rinse the salt off of the steak and pat it dry

Heat a cast-iron skillet on high heat for 5 minutes

Season the steak with a little bit of salt and pepper then add the olive oil to the pan and then place the steak in the hot pan

Cook for 4 minutes each side then check the temperature with a meat thermometer (145°F for medium-rare, 160°F medium, and 170°F for well-done)

Take the steak out of the pan and rest for 5 minutes covered with foil

Serve with mashed or roasted potatoes
