Panna cotta is a refreshing, Italian dessert that translates to "cooked cream". It's traditionally flavored with a vanilla bean but on this occasion I'm using dark chocolate to make this dessert rich and luxurious. But it goes without saying you can flavor panna cotta with just about anything like lemon zest, cinnamon, or coffee to name a few. Panna cotta is a dessert that can be made in advance and then served immediately with fresh fruit. It's also a really impressive dessert that will end any dinner party on a high note!
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups heavy cream
6 oz. good quality dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces
1/4 cup sugar
1 envelope powdered gelatin
Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan with the sugar until warm then add the dark chocolate and stir until it's melted into the cream
Dissolve the gelatin in 1/4 cup of cold water and set it aside for 5 minutes to thicken then whisk it into the melted chocolate and cream and let it cook for 1 minute further over a gentle heat
Pour the panna cotta mixture into 4 (4oz.) ramekins and refrigerate for at least 4 hours preferably overnight
Serve each panna cotta with a few raspberries and top with a sprig of mint

ReplyDeleteWow I really do not know how to use this thing sorry for the million comments. But last question, do I just use baking chocolate? Which brand did you use?
ReplyDeleteI used ghiradelle; I'd recommend ghiradelle because it will give the panna cotta that rich, decadent chocolately flavor. But if you can't find it, baking chocolate will do just fine! Hope this helps!
